# 30648: Geo Permissions update restricted for subaccounts

## Description

This error occurs when you try to update SMS Geo Permissions on a subaccount that still inherits those settings from its parent account. Subaccounts inherit SMS Geo Permissions from the parent account by default, and you must disable inheritance before you can manage a subaccount independently.

### Possible causes

* Geo Permissions inheritance is enabled for the subaccount, so the subaccount continues to use the parent account's settings.
* You are trying to change Geo Permissions from the subaccount even though inherited permissions can only be updated from the parent account.
* The subaccount needs its own SMS Geo Permissions, but inheritance has not been disabled yet. Only Account Owner and Account Admin roles can disable inheritance for a subaccount.

### Possible solutions

* Sign in to the parent account and update SMS Geo Permissions there if the subaccount should keep inheriting the parent account's settings.
* If the subaccount needs different settings, disable inheritance for that subaccount first. Then update the subaccount's SMS Geo Permissions separately.
* Make sure you are logged in to the correct account before making changes. Only Account Owner and Account Admin roles can modify SMS Geo Permissions.
