# 550009: Cannot delete enabled dataset

## Description

Datasets can be deleted only when in **DISABLED** status. Deleting an enabled dataset is not permitted to prevent accidental data loss.

### Possible causes

* You attempted to delete a dataset that is currently in ENABLED status.

### Possible solutions

* Disable the dataset first using the update endpoint, then retry the deletion.
